This is a one semester course on Rural Entrepreneurship. This course discusses the concept and definitions of enterprise, entrepreneurs and Entrepreneurship. Characteristics of entrepreneurs. Incubation and commercialisation of ideas and innovations. Role of entrepreneurs in development of a country with a special emphasis on development of rural sector. Implications of social, economic and political systems of the country on development and growth of entrepreneurs. Impact of globalisation on its development. Government schemes and incentives for promotion of entrepreneurs. Policies relevant to agri-entrepreneurs,contract farming, joint ventures, public-private partnership etc. Entrepreneurship Development Programme( EDP).
